USSSA Tournament Rules
1. Game Time Is Forfeit Time, Teams Must Be Ready To Play
2. United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Rules

3. Good Quality Softballs Will Be Used For All Tournaments
4. All Games Will Be 7 Innings Or Run Rule (5 Innings 10 Run
Rule)
5. No Metal, Hard Plastic Or Polyurethane Spikes Similar To
Metal Sole And Heel Plate, Or Shoes With Detachable Cleats
Are Allowed During Tournament/Playoff/League Play. Only One
Piece Molded Cleats Will Be Allowed.
6. Any Team May Start A Game With 10 Or 11 Players, They May
Drop Down 1 Player Due To Injury, All Vacant Spots In Lineup
Will Be Declared An Out Every Time That Position Is Due To Bat
7. Any Team May Start A Game With 9 Players, All Vacant Spots
In Lineup Will Be Declared An Out Every Time That Position Is
Due To Bat
8. Coed Play, Teams May Start With 10 Or 12 Players, Same
Short-Handed Rule Applies.
9. There Are No Courtesy Runners Allowed, Except For Injury
To Player During The Game. If A Player Is Slow Or Tired,
They Will Not Be Allowed A Courtesy Runner. The Umpire Will
Make The Decision. When A Courtesy Runner Is Used, (The Last
Out, Same Gender) Player Of The Same Inning Is The Runner.
When There Are No Outs It Is The Player Who Batted In Front
Of The Injured Runner, Etc.
10. Home Run Rule
A. Class E, No Over The Fence Home Runs Allowed
B. Class D, One (1) Over The Fence Home Run Allowed
C. Class C, Three (3) Over The Fence Home Runs Allowed
D. Class Open, Three (3) Over The Fence Home Runs Allowed
E. Masters, Three (3) Over The Fence Home Runs Allowed
F. Law Enforcement, Three (3) Over The Fence Home Runs Allowed
G. Seniors, Unlimited
H. Defense Assisted Home Runs Are Four (4) Base Awards And Do
Not Count Towards Home Run Limit
I. Players Do Not Have To Run Bases On Home Runs
J. Any Ball Hit Over The Fence In Excess Of The Home Run Limit
Will Be A DBO.
11. Extreme Profanity May Result In Player Ejection And/Or
Forfeit Of The Game
12. A Team Will Not Make A Travesty Of The Game By Intentionally
Allowing An Opposing Team To Score Runs In Order To Prolong
The Game. Failure To Comply Will Result In Forfeit Or An End
To The Game. Players Must Have Respect For The Game Of
Softball!!!
13. Umpires By Hardhitters Sports Officials
Softball Players Code Of Conduct
Player Is Defined As A Player; Coach, Manager, Sponsor Or
Anyone Affiliated With The Team. The Players Code Of Conduct
Applies Before, During And After The Game.
1. No Player Shall: At Any Time Lay A Hand Upon, Push, Shove,
Strike Or Threaten To Strike An Official. Penalty: Officials Or
Field Supervisor Will Remove Player From The Game. Player
Will Automatically Be Suspended For One Year. If The Official Is
Struck In Any Fashion, The Player Will Draw A Lifetime Suspension.
2. No Player Shall: Refuse To Abide By An Official's Decision.
Penalty: Officials Are Required To Immediately Suspend Players
From Further Play And Report Such Player To The Operations Manager.
Such Player Shall Remain Suspended Until His/Her Case Has Been
Considered.
3. No Player Shall: Be Guilty Of Objectionable Demonstrations Of
Dissent At An Official's Decision By Throwing Of Gloves, Bats,
Balls, Or Any Other Forceful Action. Penalty: The Degree Of
Infraction Of This Tenet Of Good Sportsmanship Shall, In The
Official's Judgment, Draw A Minimum Penalty Of A Warning Or A
Maximum Penalty Of Being Removed From The Game.
4. No Player Shall: Discuss With An Official In Any Manner The
Decision Reached By Such Official Except The Manager Or Captain.
Penalty: The Degree Of Infraction Of This Tenet Of Good
Sportsmanship Shall, In The Official's Judgment, Draw A Minimum
Penalty Of Warning Or A Maximum Penalty Of Being Removed From
The Game.
5. No Player Shall: Be Guilty Of Using Unnecessarily Rough
Tactics In The Play Of A Game Against The Body And Person Of An
Opposing Player. Penalty: Officials Are Required To Immediately
Suspend Players From Further Play And Report Such Player To The
Operations Manager. Such Player Shall Remain Suspended Until
His/Her Case Has Been Considered.
6. No Player Shall: Be Guilty Of Physical Attack As An Aggressor
Upon Any Player, Official Or Spectator. Penalty: Officials Are
Required To Immediately Suspend Player From Further Play. Player
Will Automatically Be Suspended For One Year.
7. No Player Shall: Be Guilty Of An Abusive Verbal Attack Upon A
Player, Official, Spectator Or Agent Associated With
Hardhitters Softball. Penalty: Officials Are Required To
Immediately Suspend Player From Further Play And Report Such
Player To The Operations Manager. Such Player Will Remain
Suspended Until His/Her Case Has Been Considered.
8. No Player Shall: Use Profane, Obscene Or Vulgar Language In
Any Manner Or At Any Time. Penalty: Zero Tolerance The Degree
Of Infraction Of This Tenet Of Good Sportsmanship Shall, In The
Official's Judgment, Be Removal From The Game. Infractions Shall
Be Reported To The Operations Manager.
9. No Player Shall: Be Guilty Of Gambling Upon Any Play Or The
Outcome Of The Game With Any Spectator, Player Or Opponent.
Penalty: Officials Are Required To Report Violations Of This
Rule To The Operations Manager.
10. No Player Shall: Appear Upon The Field Of Play At Any Time
In An Intoxicated Condition, This Includes The Dugout.
Penalty: Officials Are Required To Immediately Suspend Player
From Play And Report It To The Operations Manager For
Further Consideration.
11. No Player Shall: Smoke While On Or Coming Off The Field Of
Play Or While On The Field Of Play, This Includes The Dugout.
Penalty: Officials Are Required To Warn Players Guilty Of
Infractions Of This Rule. Failure Of Such Players To Comply Will
Result In Removal From The Game.
12. No Player Shall: Be Guilty Of Discussing Publicly With
Spectators In A Derogatory Or Abusive Manner, Any Play, Decision,
Or His/Her Personal Opinion Of Other Players During The Game.
Penalty: Officials Are Required To Warn Players Guilty Of
Infractions Of This Rule. Failure Of Such Players To Comply
Will Result In Removal From The Game.
13. No Player Shall: Be Guilty Of Intentionally Throwing The Bat.
Penalty: Officials Are Required To Immediately Remove Player
From The Game.
14. No Player Shall: Hit A Ball Against The Fencing Around
The Park (I.E. Batting Practice). Penalty: Officials Are
Required To Warn Violators And If Violation Continues, Officials
Will Eject Offender(S).
